author's note i had already sort of expanded on this idea of a shopaholic gf on my old blog, but i kept on rethinking about it and about mihya and so this little drabble came out of my head! enjoy

Your expensive taste can’t be helped — or at least that’s what you tell your boyfriend, Michael Kaiser, as he discovers another pair of Manolo Blahnik boots stuffed in the lower compartment of your shared walk-in closet.

It wasn’t as if Mihya was cheap, but force of habit and his experience growing up had made him frown upon the luxuries he could now afford rather than enjoy them, despite his girlfriend being rather fond of it herself.

« Nouvelle saison! Do you know what that means, Mihya? New! New season! They’re- they’re so- »

« They’re just like any other pair of boots that you own » he sighs, closing the closet door. He walks over to the kitchen island and settles his elbows on the marble counter.

His nonchalant behaviour is slowly getting on your nerves, you think, and you let the hand settling on your hip betray your thoughts. « That’s just it. They’re not like any other pair, they have a silver buckle on the side, and the sole is so much nicer. You just don’t get it. »

You turn around to fetch your new boots from the closet to settle them on your shoe-shelf.

« Whatever, as long as it’s not my money, » Michael shrugs, sipping on his mug looking ahead through the window glass pane.

You freeze, and slowly turn around.

« But it is your money. »

Michael looks over the counter, only to find his Amex black card sitting on the edge of it, next to your purse and keys. If he’s mad, the blonde doesn’t show it, as he instead focuses his stare back to his mug, inspecting the coffee residue left at the bottom.

When he speaks up, you’re torn between surprise and confusion.

« Use the insignia jewellery card next time you go shopping instead of that one. You’ll like it better, i think. »

By the time you realise that was his way of telling you he loved you, your beloved had left the living room entirely, opting to lounge in your shared bedroom instead.

INTRO POST S’PPOSE?

hey! I go by Eligh [ee:-l-ay] she/her, and you might have seen me already on this app🙂‍↕️

my previous/main artblog @edelweissko got shadowbanned, I suppose – even though probably by mistake; I haven‘t done a thing – it means I can‘t sent+get dms, comment, you can’t tag or search my blog up, and most frustratingly, my posts don‘t show up under the tags I put – which means barely anyone ever gets to see them — kinda un-awesome having sent hours down the drain for a stupid artwork, eh? SO at least before I hear back from the sup team, I am strategically retreating here — hence the new intro

– Hetalia.

Ironically. On crack. I swear. My brain rotted into a weird relationship with this thing, whereby I hate it but i love it but i hate it you get me. I heavily judge certain canon aspects and enjoy reimagining them; I also love historical hetalia. I often get ideas of Hetalia projects but abandon them halfway and pick new ones up (adhd moment). My favorite Hetalia crap to draw would be reimagined Ukraine, as well as 2p! Ukraine, that personifies Ukrainian resistance; Prussia and Romano (the latter heavily headcanonned too lol) as an otp DON‘T ASK it just happened; and my ocs, amongst whom I‘ve got designs for Georgia, Qirim, Piedmont-Sardinia, etcc. My canon faves aside those mentioned are Poland, UK, Ireland, Germany.

The stuff I create for Hetalia is purely and mostly historical satire, shits and giggles, or just my comfort ship stuff. Take nothing seriously 🙂‍↕️ here‘s some Hetalia stuff I‘ve drawn recently:

– History.

I like (military) history, politics, literature and linguistics a lot; my main areas of interest change rapidly, but amongst those I would highlight some that stuck around for longer, please feel free to dm to talk to me about any of those:

Ukrainian history: any period and timeframe. Literally. It peaks, however, at the liberation struggle of 1917-1921, the Executed Rennaissance of 1920s, the subsequent insurgence/liberation struggle

Irish War of Independence: SHIT PLEASE talk to me about all that madness that happened in Ireland in 1914ish to 1923. Michael Collins. The Squad. The Anglo-Irish Treaty. The Civil War. Pls pls pls. And it‘s especially painfully interesting to see paralels with Ukraine almost at that very time *sigh*

German history: here I would highlight Prussian history and the subsequent German unification; and then (separately in a way), the paramilitary Freikorps in 1920s. Reading a book rn on each of those

Risorgimento Italy: something that I got into recently and still find fascinating

Talvisota/winter war: NJETT MOLOTOFF, NJETT MOLOTOFF i love Finland for this

French history: I‘ll be a bit basic and say French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars, but I rlly need to research more on what happened afterwards ikr

In my 23 years of life I've seen alot, I've seen 9/11 & the islamophobia that resulted from it, I've seen the war in Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Palestine and so much more.

I've lived through 2 revolutions in my country and the military cleaning the country from literal terrorists.

Yet what's happening in Palestine in the last weeks, that's different, that's modern genocide documented in our posts, stories, blogs and more.

It hurts everyday to know that some countries, some people, some chairs in power are siding with Israel bombing Ghaza, putting it on siege, bombing hospitals and refusing the passing of aid.

It hurts when they all side with the oppressors using their veto to not stop the genocide, it hurts to see fake media being published on the behalf of the oppressors while real media from the victims are getting deleted, shadowbanned and so much more.

War crime is simply not a war crime when it comes to Israel.

I find it weird how alot of people in the US speak about their healthcare system and education which both sucks honestly yet when it comes to the money they pay to the government going to Israel to finance a genocide they're silent.

It hurts, it hurts how NY times keeps on calling it a conflict, it hurts when the guardian keep showing Israeli families of people kidnapped by hamas so that would be enough reason for people to accept Israel bombing civilians, women & children, in Ghaza.

It hurts when the first thing I do when I wake up is check the news to see how is Palestine, when I get home from work & till I fall asleep.

I might not be Palestinian but my heart hurts.

He’s actually an actor and there was no assassination.

It was all faked.

It was done in response to a data-mining algorithm telling our masters that it was time to stage an assassination on a capitalist character. And then publicize it as much as possible. Like all staged events, this will mass-alter opinions and delay a revolution by keeping everyone morally confused.

In the meantime, more and more white Christian bloodlines can be morally degenerated, racemixed, and even hunted down and slain by fake criminals. All while this wretched, Godless, Christless and DEFEATED "society" of complete strangers continues to crawl along. Artificially kept afloat by staged events like this. There have been many faked "revolutionary acts" before this one, and expect many more.

This time however, they took it as an opportunity to show a really well-constructed (through surgery) golem. Luigi whatever. He has an impressive jaw implant, and he also possesses mixed racial features. Glamour-shot mugshots, and a video of Luigi getting out of a police car with great lighting that obviously took many takes, all make him look very handsome. Don't forget the obvious muscle suit he was wearing in that one shirtless picture with the REALLY bizarre abs.

I assume they used this boyband member to get some extra value out of this event. Perhaps it was to deceive white women into believing that racemixing isn't so bad, and that in addition to looks, racemixed men are capable of virtuous self-sacrifice. In reality racemixing is the worst thing you can do to your child without question. Racemixed children are universally hideous and often detest their white parent for life, and they are absolutely incapable of virtuous self-sacrifice, especially the fathers.

By now, millions of divorced white women from defeated, extinct bloodlines have given birth to brown children and can attest that their husbands are not like the brown men on TV shows, movies, or faked events like this one. And they can attest that their child hates them and will take advantage of them without a second thought, often laughing at their suffering. These white women often turn to chemicals, bloat horribly, and dissapear into one-bedroom apartments, where they grow bitter and insane. They're also flagged by the AI and shadowbanned away from warning other women.

Ignoring the real possibility he intentionally let himself be caught from the little we know so far Luigi Mangione's case is a fascinating combination of astonishing brilliance and confusing stupidity. This young man plans and executes his assassination and escape with such a meticulous care and calmness that it's suspected that he's a professional hitman. He comes up with Riddler-sque moves like writing his manifesto poetically on the bullets and leaving his backpack behind full of Monopoly money. He carefully wears a mask to avoid being identified but removes it because a woman who was checking him into the hostel was flirting with him and wanted to see his smile. He still manages to escape the most surveilled city in the country in the midst of ongoing national manhunt only to get caught in the middle of bumfuck nowhere Pennsylvania while eating at the McDonalds. Because for some reason he had the same clothes and mask as in New York and was carrying the same gun and suppressor. And when the cops detained him he showed them the same fake id he used in New York. And oh yeah he's a frat bro gym rat who has a masters degree in computer science from Penn but reads stupid self-help books about being on the grind and is 'anti-woke' while being bisexual suffering from anxiety and wanting to end oppressive capitalism. Not even god himself could invent a person like this

Struggles on the Sidelines: Malaysian Creators and the Shadowy Algorithm Week 7

The dream of becoming a social media star is alive and well for creators in Malaysia, especially those from marginalized backgrounds or with niche content with the algorithms that curate feeds feel like a gatekeeper with an unknown key. 

Many Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students want to become social media influencers instead of pursuing higher studies. A UCSI survey found that 34% of this group, aged 18 to 20, want to be influencers. The issue of low wages for many students who drop out of school raised concerns among the youth. Advertisers can earn thousands of dollars by posting short videos promoting food and other products and services. Parents and teachers should encourage young people to embark on this rewarding journey. Understandably, the success stories of influencers highlight situations where people have faced challenges or failed (1).

Platforms like YouTube and Instagram thrive on algorithms that personalize user experiences. But the creators who fuel these platforms often find themselves on the fringes. The study argues that these algorithms can act as a form of uneven platform governance. 

By 2024, social media systems in Malaysia will evolve into complex systems that use advanced artificial intelligence to personalize content delivery. New algorithms go beyond general content to understand individual user preferences to deliver personalized experiences. It actively identifies and reduces the spread of misinformation, creating a more trustworthy digital ecosystem. Manufacturers and businesses must adapt strategies to succeed in the growing digital landscape (2).

There are many ways to deal with creators and algorithms. Opaque rules struggle with creators to understand the exact criteria for how their content is displayed. This lack of transparency makes it difficult to optimize their work for visibility. Some creators suspect they have been shadowbanned, a practice where platforms throttle content reach without explicit notification. It can be devastating for creators trying to build an audience. Algorithms might favor specific types of content bias, leaving creators with unique voices or perspectives struggling to gain traction.

These factors push creators to navigate a system they cannot fully grasp. Some people practice self-censorship by altering the content they produce to meet the perceived preferences of algorithms. Others fight back, attempting to game the system through strategies that might not always align with their creative vision.

One of the studies underscores the importance of understanding these experiences. Social media creators are not just entertainers. They are cultural producers shaping online discourse. When algorithms silence marginalized voices, it limits the diversity of ideas and perspectives we encounter online, such as microcelebrities shaping every identity construction (3).

The fight for a fairer platform goes beyond Malaysia. It is a global struggle for creators to have a say in how their work can be seen in platforms to be more transparent and accountable in their governance.

they try to solve the disease by supressing the symptoms..

the violence in man is what we want to end, not the inconvenient behaviors..

it is but a cosmetic change in how violence expresses itself..

what to wear? pointy hats or a nice suit?

we want to turn the public space into a kind of monastery.. where all behave saintlike and all seems perfect and wholesome..

but the violence does not end by hiding it..

it shows itself in domestic abuse..

in child abuse.. in shadowbanning and harassing minorities in the day to day life .. in blindness towards suffering in people.. in insensitivity to others, and automizing relationships, objectifying people..

so how will we end the violence, the stupidity and misinformation for sake of doing harm?

what vaccination can we create in people that stops them from being compelled to express such symptoms? free education is one thing.. decreasing pressures on people, financial and physical and psychological and social authorotarian, is another one. medication and therapies another one.. free medicine.. individual freedom and democracy in all situations and organisations another one.. sustainable farming and gardening and architecture and co ops and water management and regreening deserts another one,

religious freedom and dance and creativity and yogic tantric meditative practices... physical training, sports.. developing technologies that make life easyer globally.. dissolving of walls and geografic borders.. human animal nature rights.. all these help for sure but all these have been tried more or less.. in places all over the world.. but they are not generally available and often lack support..

so undermining existing institutions which hog all the economic and political power and knowledge and know how has become a major part of revolutionary action.. as was the case with the french revolution..

as for the vested intrests.. it is easyer to repress the inconvenient elements good or bad.. than to find creative solutions.. hence the move of democracies towards authoritarianism in face of global crisises..

i admire the courage to gamble oneself for the sake of a free and just society..

and such people are rare..

if i can help it in any way.. i struggle for life to find such courage..

though it is necessary for all on earth for sake of LIFE, when all is available for human wellbeing and beyond.. people who have all available do not automatically become good people!

so still vigilance is needed in a wholesome society.. in outer wellbeing, a freedom to be oneself is essential so society does not fall back into a spitefull struggle..

one can decrease the potential for violence but not determine its end with absolute certainty..

there is no one size fits all..

this means we havent solved the puzzle..

we as humans are capable of amazing things, this is proven in countless ways.. in all the beauty and juiciness of mans expression.. in the deep interconnectedness with each other and nature.. in the efforts to overcome our limitations, and making the impossible possible..

we are so close to creating a paradise for ourselves, yet we cling to old methods proven to not work, to be unsustainable.. just part of the problem, feeding the problem..

perhaps the puzzle cannot be solved.. perhaps the game cannot be won.

but it is worth trying with every fibre ..

and one can transcend the game.. step out of it.. to not be a pawn in the hands of others.. or to be one willfully and creatively..

in any case freedom is essential.. i cannot stop pressing that...

not the freedom to violence.. but the freedom to be total, unbound by mind or matter.. unbound by the causes of violence..

it isnt all that serious..

there is laughter in freedom

no need for a cross to put oneself

life is not for the masochist saints. or better it is for the rascal saints..

life is not a graveyard, it is a leela, a play.. just youthfull spirits on a universal playground..

Why TERFs are Fascists

2500 words that will explain the modern online fascist ecosystem and convince any honest reader that "gender critical" ideology is a major element of how it works (average reading time: 8.3 minutes).

The ways people use social media are very different and because of this I've seen that many comrades involved in building the UK working-class movement are very distanced from a solid understanding of the shape of political discourse online, in the spaces in which a majority of public political discourse now takes place. Even though there are many vocal comrades and union members present in online spaces like twitter or facebook, there is an entire other vastly complex and deeply interconnected space of political discourse that occurs online, where the power and influence that corporate interests wield is nigh inconceivable and keenly felt at all times.

The recent mid-life crisis of elon musk is the perfect beginner course in understanding this through:

The ways that capitalist oligarchs and mega-corporations compete for power and influence as though they were playing a board game;

The present consequences of the cult of infamy that creates internet celebrity and which developed from previous ideas of celebrity via the "mass-democratisation"  (or "mass data-exploitation of alienated working class demographics") of the internet and social media sites especially;

At the same time, the ways in which this infamy-culture is directly related to the subservience of mainstream news-media to capitalist ideology via advertising on screens in every pocket and home (in other words we sell our data - i.e. agency - to be used by some of the worst people on the planet to manipulate us in return for advertised access to the public forum - see the Cambridge Analytica scandal for the consequences of this) and the profit motive that algorithmically determines content: in fact the thing that has most rapidly driven change in advertising is the technological improvement of those algorithms to be as efficient at exploitation as possible at all times. Notably this method incentivises a system that makes no distinction between a video of a hate crime and a trending comedy video. See Twitter Main Character Of The Day for other examples.

Now those algorithms are so powerful that they determine the shape of the absolute majority of all political discussion, and are at the same time driven by a content ideology that emerged from the perfect evil marriage-in-triplicate of:

The "media age" Commodification of The Means of Communication (news, social media & the colonisation of the public forum);

The Commodification of Art and Cultural Expression (art becomes content via colonisation of and alienation from community and natural surroundings);

The Cult of the Individual (which desires infamy above all else, favouring the ultra-wealthy and the most extreme).

The relationship between stochastic terrorism and data-driven online existence is obvious: within this evil soup of capitalist ideology, which values power over everything, the means of communication (social media) is a tool to appropriate content (alienated art, labour and identity) that can be manipulated (remember all that stolen data!) as efficiently as possible, and the result is the Culture War, in which fascism thrives.

Just as they always have, capitalist interests create breeding grounds for fascism, here making content as polarizing as possible because it drives engagement and makes numbers go up - the goal is to do this constantly and exponentially for infinity and all time...

Fascist grooming is a fantastic tool towards achieving this goal. Not only does it divide the working class and thus make it easier to exploit and reduce the threat of revolution, you can also look at the current Elon Musk example to see how he is attempting to colonise the means of communication that structure modern stochastic terrorism for personal benefit.

"Shadowbanning" conspiracy-theorist Elon Musk may be hemmoraghing money and destroying everything he touches, but he receives cultural capital with the worst people online in exchange. Is it worth it? He's doing it anyway. The rapist and human trafficker Andrew Tate (whom Musk had an executive hand in unbanning from Twitter along with some of the other most prominent alt-right and conspiracy theory figureheads on the internet like Laura Loomer, Roger Stone and David Icke) getting arrested by Romanian authorities after being publicly humiliated by Greta Thunberg and accidentally revealing his hidden location via pizza box was breaking news despite a vast majority of non-online people who received this news having never previously heard of Andrew Tate. Thunberg's comeback currently ranks as the 4th most liked tweet of all time.

Andrew Tate is a recent leading figure in the misogynist Mens Rights sphere, which has historically been one of the leading recruitment tools across all social media for the stochastic terrorist network that is figure-headed by a coalition of conservative grifters (charlatan cult leaders, conmen selling soy-containing anti-soy conspiracy theory protein shakes, frauds who radicalise a fascist-friendly cult to scam a delusional and easy to manipulate captive audience) and mainstream right-wing political figures.

The TERF (trans exclusionary radical feminist fascist) movement is a direct mirror to this fascist recruitment program and functions in an incredibly similar way. It may seem to the uninformed that it has come from independent grass roots because it claims to be based on valid concerns of real working class people, but this is a myth as false as everything else you can expect to hear from TERFs: it is funded and nurtured by the exact same evil marriage of right-wing political groups and capitalists that foster the alt-right movement.

The TERF ideology (or "gender critical" movement - though this is a deliberate misnomer in the exact fashion of "national socialism", as it is the violent enforcement of the patriarchal systems of oppression which form the false gender binary that is the explicit goal of the TERF ideology) is widely and obviously fascist, and it is observably false to claim that it is not so: it is artifically bred in the same algorithmically-controlled shallow waters that feed the network of conspiracy theories, cults, and the alt-right, which we would most accurately recognise as the stochastic terrorist network of modern fascism.

All online "culture war" (in other terms the majority of political discussion, polarised by the callously evil profit-motivated design of the medium through which it is communicated to drive engagement and sell ads) is dependent on the existence of this ecosystem, and you only need to look at the following widely available details to see this:

The established political powers that are acting to enforce gender-&-bodily-autonomy-based authoritarianism are simultaneously enacting trans genocide and attacking abortion rights with support from terfs, the alt right and other conservative hate groups;

The deep connections in the shared community spaces of the alt-right and TERF movements;

The Q-anon far-right cultist attempted coup in the US and the constant onslaught of semi-organised terrorist violence that is the result of this network;

The pro-fascist credentials and  confused political ideologies (mainly the increasingly conspiracy-fuelled fascist dog-whistling of self identified "anti-woke" conservatives and libertarians) of anyone who is a major figure in the discourse surrounding these movements (elon musk, libsoftiktok chaya raichik, lauren boebert, matt gaetz who as of typing held the deciding vote in electing the now US house speaker Kevin McCarthy, marjorie taylor-green, ian miles cheong, tucker carlson, alex jones, andrew tate, joe rogan, ben shapiro, j.k. rowling, maya forstater, piers morgan, nigel farage, etc.);

The previous major political waves made by the reach of these groups (brexit, trans and abortion rights abuses in the US, the conspiracy-fuelled attempted coup in the US, anti-vaxxers and their influence on global covid responses, mass shootings and fascist terrorist attacks, etc.);

The strategic choice of culture war topics to exploit the algorithm & spread fascist propaganda to seed new recruits who will move up the pyramid of stochastic terrorism (and get scammed along the way, as most prominent exponents of fascist ideology are also hardcore grifters, see the overlap with crypto-bros & NFTs) through the incredibly powerful reach of tik-tok, twitter, instagram, facebook & youtube to all demographics of the working class including children;

The fact that terf ideology makes up a significant percentage of current prominent alt-right discourse in the culture war, and that both terfs and the rest of the online right always perform solidarity for one another when they rally against cross-over culture war topics like cancel culture;

A predominantly white, middle-class & conservative "feminist" group that is aggressively anti-intersectional, preferring instead to act against other oppressed groups in solidarity with the misogynist, vocally anti-feminist "mens rights" chanting alt-right is more accurately described as a patriarchal white supremacist group that seeks emancipation for none and is indistinguishable from other conservative groups who act on behalf of patriarchy.

For further proof, watch as I accurately predict that the most active layer of the stochastic pyramid of fascists will crawl out in droves to support J.K. Rowling when the new Harry Potter game releases next month (which includes a slave class of non-human people who love being slaves actually - you even have some of their severed heads on display in your dorm - and in which you fight against a conspiracy of anti-semitic Jewish-coded greedy evil goblins, in a game whose previous lead developer has a youtube channel where he produced lengthy propaganda for alt-right culture war topics) by abusing queer people and women on the internet. Watch as they relish in discovering tedious ways in which they can use this opportunity to spread misinformation & propaganda to fuel the culture war by attacking the left and any and all "wokeists" (the boogeyman group of anyone who speaks or acts in support of any and all oppressed people, including existing as one of these people, especially used to dog-whistle against POC) and know that J.K. Rowling is well aware of the kind of stochastic terrorism she promotes and considers her royalties an endorsement of her ideology. She is the single biggest, most influential terf.

In conclusion, it is absolutely incorrect to ever make the claim that the anti-trans movement is not a fascist movement, as it is a significant element of the online modern fascist ecosystem and has not simply emerged from nowhere but instead is a consequence of many obvious factors (not least of which is the development of modern alt-right conspiracy theories), and this movement is another face of the same monster that first came to major online prominence in the form of gamergate - which itself was a development of the "edgy" and extremely racist, ableist, queerphobic and misogynist culture of 2000s & early 2010s internet and social media.

For many queer people, the sheer act of existing in online spaces is a survival of (and therefore an education in) the consequences of these ideologies, which are labelled online in a variety of ways that all fall under the broad category of the alt-right (i.e. modern online fascist) umbrella and whose names all invoke clouds of connotations with violent authoritarianism, fascism and oppression, for instance: incels -> blackpill -> MRAs -> gamergate -> pizzagate -> Qanon -> flat-earthers -> covid denial -> anti-vaxxers -> "groomer" slurs & anti-trans CSA conspiracies. It is easily possible to find multiple recent terrorist attacks that clearly evidence the direct connections between all of these categories. TERFs are just another group in this cloud of shared characteristics.

This venn diagram (at the centre of which is an explicitly and vocally fascist ideology) is not quite a circle, if only because it must have on-ramps for recruitment: the "gender critical" movement is one of these, and it has proved its potential to be an incredibly effective tool for the spread of fascist ideology and stochastic terror, which is a major reason why "the trans debate" is a constant repeat target of the culture war's ire. The relatively small size of trans communities, their very online presence, the role of patriarchal gender oppression in conservative ideology (and the weakening of LGBTQ solidarity as a consequence of the partial capitalist colonialisation of lgbtq communities and the subsequent alienation of queer youth from their many socialist elders) make trans people as perfect a scapegoat for the fascists of today as they have been for the fascists of the past.

This fascist ideology has shown its hand and the only strategy that has the potential to defeat it is an intersectional revolutionary movement of the working class. It would be a dangerous oversight not to learn these lessons that demonstrate why we must put every effort into organising the rise of working class movements in an intersectional way: from strikes to climate protests to the fights for the rights of refugees, indigenous peoples, queer and trans people, POC and racially oppressed communities, all women, disabled people and all other oppressed peoples of the world (ultimately encompassing the entire global working class): we must connect each of these movements in solidarity with one another.

Just as the enemy is a hateful supremacist ideology that seeks to divide and genocide all of us degenerates (speaking in solidarity as an autistic cis man with the nazi diagnosis "aspergers" - so in retrospect those fascists may have even elected not to murder me for being the wrong kind of retard while today's fascist death cultists distort my hypothetical existence into a ritual weapon to aid the spread of plague, what joy) the fight for all of our rights is the fight against one enemy with many different faces for many different people. It is clear that only mass scale, militant, revolutionary anti-capitalist & anti-fascist solidarity will see any of us freed from its influence. The only way to achieve this is to organise, enact tangible and effective solidarity and bring with it the reasons that allow you to acknowledge that it is your fight too.

To do this effectively, I suggest joining your local revolutionary socialist organisation and attending both pickets and protests. Trans and refugee voices are crucial in the UK (hi from terf island) right now, and the place they can have the most influence is the place that has the most potential to destroy capitalism and build revolution: the picket line.

we all know that dumb mf can’t cook for shit so maybe the reader teaching him how to cook something simple? or, inversely, deimos teaching reader a skill (sumn to do with tech, probably)

this may be me projecting but deimos seems like he’d be into farm animals, specifically chickens (*hides my status as a college student enrolled in an agriculture-related field behind my back*) so i’m thinking about reader coming back from recon work and going “look what i found :D!!!!!” and pulling a chicken out of their bag and deimos freaking tf out bc! chickem!!!!!! (also deimos gives me “i love big fluffy breeds like buff orpington and brahmas” type vibes ;;)

The Best Times

Over the course of years, you have gotten used to the smell of explosions and gunfire, the smell of gunpowder or even the scent of freshly spilt blood doesn't faze you anymore.  But that doesn't mean you turn your head, especially this early in the morning. The smell of something burning hits your nostrils like a train, causing you to wake up right away. Sitting up in your cot, the burning smell becomes stronger and your very first instinct kicks in. "Fire!" You shout and tumble out of your cot. Scrambling to get up while your legs are tangled in the blankets.  You manage to get out of the blankets and you rush to the source of the smell. 

There, in the makeshift kitchen is where you find the source of all this commotion. "Every time I cook it gets a little bit smoky, but that doesn't mean the place is on fire!" Deimos sings through the smoke of whatever he just ruined in the pan over the stove.  "Deimos! What the hell! I thought the place was on fire!" You shout in a panic, the rise of the adrenaline still working in your veins.  Deimos turns to you with a toothy grin, "Oh! Mornin' (Y/n). You're up and fresh today!" He greets cheerfully. As if the kitchen's ceiling isn't completely covered in smoke and ash.  You give him an incredulous look, is he serious? "What are you making?" You ask in a condescending tone, although you're not really in the mood for scolding this early in the morning.  "I'm cookin' some bacon for us. Want some?" He gestures with the spatula to the pan, where a shrivelled-up piece of cole is causing a scene.  You look on at the 'bacon' with disgust, "err, no thanks..." You answer politely, your tone of voice hiding the revolution. 

"Deimos... You kinda, uh... can't cook." You comment, rubbing the back of your neck before running a hand through your unruly hair.   Deimos looks at you, and then gasps in offence, one hand pressed on his chest. "How dare you! I'm a fine cook." He exclaims with pride, although you are not impressed in the slightest.  "cut it out Deimos... You'll burn down the kitchen one day, here." You discard the burned cole and grab a new pan from one of the cupboards. "Let me show you, how to cook bacon." You step in front of the smoker and take the now ruined pan and place it in the sink to let it cool off. "Still got any?" You ask him, he nods and points at the slightly broken fridge from where he most likely got the meat from. 

You manoeuvre around him and look inside the fridge for a used package of bacon, with still some remaining meat inside it.  "Teaching me cooking, mom?" Deimos teases, you as he watches you work. He leans forward slightly in interest at what you are showing him.  "Now, to prevent you from burning anything again, I'm going got show you how to cook bacon as a starter. Watch closely." You order while using liquid butter in the pan and let it eat up. The stove is not too damaged and can still be used without problems.

"I didn't know you had to put butter in the pan," Deimos comments while watching over your shoulder at the roasting meat. Using a new spatula, you successfully flip the bacon to the other side. "well, bacon has a lot of fat on its own. But just a little extra in there to ensure it doesn't burn." You explain gesturing with your spatula to the cooking meat.  Deimos flashes his shark-like teeth in a bright grin. "You gotta teach me to cook more often!" He beams, and you can't help but offer a tiny smile in return. 

"Will do, Deimos... Will do."

It is the simple moments with a bright spirit like Deimos that make your life worth living. A little bit of light in this dark world of nothing but violence, Deimos' presence felt like a breath of fresh air you didn't have for what felt like years. You felt the dire need to thank him for all the good times brought into your life... But you're not sure how just yet.

Your train of thought is derailed when a door to the barracks slams open, a very angry-looking Deimos stomps in, throwing his bag into his cot and rummages through it for a pack of cigarettes, and then he storms back out again. He and his pal Sanford have been away for a few days, out on a mission to gather info from an Aahw outpost. Usually, Deimos is there to greet you cheerily when they return from a mission. Something has definitely gone wrong on this expedition of theirs.  And just when Deimos leaves, Sanford enters the barracks while looking quite defeated.  "What happened to you? And what's up with him?" You ask, gesturing to the door to the barracks.  Sanford lets out a long sigh and runs a hand over his bandana. "Failed mission." He answers simply. "He's taking it personally." Sanford nods his head towards the entrance, a sudden crash is heard from outside, and Sanford sighs loudly. "Give him a minute to cool off." a couple more loud thuds from outside, indicates that Deimos is throwing a tantrum or either getting rid of his frustration with some more physical violence. 

You're kind of worried to be honest, whatever has gone wrong on this mission that would make Deimos act too frustrated. You don't really want to know to be honest. But one thing you do know is just how to cheer him up. Together with that, you found during your scavenging task from this morning.

A moment later, right outside the barracks is where you find Deimos; who has calmed down at this point. Sitting on a crate of ammo, smoking away. Several used butts surrounded him, along with a couple of smaller spilt ammo boxes that he presumably knocked over out of rage.

"all cooled off?" You ask while approaching him, your hands shoved in your pockets. Deimos spits out the now-used cigarette into the sand. "Yeah, I guess..." He huff and pushes himself off of the crate. His arms sway loosely by his sides as he saunters in your direction. "I could've shown I've got it."He complains, kicking a random pebble away.  That failed mission really had him bummed out, you hope this surprise you have for him cheers him up back to his old self.  You look at him sincerely, "I have something to show you Deimos." Your comment makes Deimos perk up. His whole expression gleamed with intrigue. "Somethin' to show? Moi?" He puts his hand on his chest in surprise.  You smile and nod with enthusiasm. You turn around and beckon Deimos to come and follow you. 

You take Deimos out to your buggy, in the back of the buggy is your storage crate. "Wait here." You say and he skips to a halt, rocking on his heels impatinely while you run out to your storage crate.  "Get ready." You say playfully while grabbing the lid of the crate. Deimos leans forward with interest.  Once you lift the lid, a fast and small creature flutters out of the crate, bronze feathers scatter about as the creature lands on the ground. Once the being is still; it turns out to be a chicken. A fluffy looking and robust, bronze featherd chicken.  "whoa!" Deimos gapes at the feathered creature in wonder. "That's a hecking chicken!" He exclaims and points at the chicken. The chicken caws and flaps it's wings, then it scuttles away. Deimos is quick to run after it. "THANKS (Y/N)!!!!" He screams just when he runs after the the quacking creature. 

You watch Deimos sprint after the chicken for several minutes until he finally catches it. He looks on at you with pride while he jogs back to you and your buggy, presenting the farm animal in his arms. You applaud happily when Deimos reaches you. A grin toothy grin you love so much back on his face where it belongs. 

"You got this fella for me?" He asks, and you confirm with a nod. His grin grows large in a nearly impossible way. Your little plan had worked after all and Deimos is a happy guy once again.
